To avoid a replacement or lost fee, please return library materials due October 1st or later within 28 days. Replacement fees are intended to encourage Members to return items on a timely basis so everyone in the community can enjoy them.
From Thursday, September 11, until 5 am on Monday, September 15, road closures for SuperCrawl will be in effect in and around James Street North from King to Wilson/York to Cannon to Barton Street. Additional closures will take place on King William, Rebecca, Vine, Mulberry, Colbourne and Murray Streets. Central Library's Fourth Floor is closed on Tuesday, September 16, from Noon to 6 pm due to a special event. Makerspace and Newcomer Learning Centre will remain open. Floors 1-3 are available as study and work spaces. www.hpl.ca/central
Huntington Park is discontinued effective after tomorrow, Friday, September 5 (11 am-noon). A new, nearby bi-weekly Bookmobile site at The Court at Rushdale (1360 Upper Sherman Ave) will start on Friday, September 19 (11 am-noon).

Study Halls at Central Library and Dundas, Red Hill, Terryberry, Turner Park, Valley Park, and Waterdown branches resume on Tuesday, September 2. They will be open after-hours Mondays-Thursdays from 8 pm to Midnight. www.hpl.ca/study-halls
Due to roof repair maintenance, the Branch is temporarily closed from September 2 until October 10. Please visit the Red Hill, Parkdale, and Barton locations as your nearest branches for your library needs. Public Computers and WiFi
Public computers are available at all branches. Members using the library computers must abide by the Technology Use Policy for Library Members. Computer use is first-come, first-served for up to three hours. Computers are available when the branch opens until 15 minutes before it closes. Residents of Hamilton need a library card to use a computer. Guest Passes are available to visitors from out of town, with proof of address.
All computers automatically shut down 15 minutes before the branch closes. Check branch hours.
All computers have USB ports (to use with USB drives), internet access and additional software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Accessibility options (magnification, text narration, on-screen keyboard) are available on all public computers. An accessible keyboard and trackball mouse are available at each branch.
Printing, photocopying and scanning are available at all locations. The first 10 black and white pages printed each day are free. Additional printing costs 10 cents per page for black and white and colour printing is 25 cents per page.
You can also use our wireless printing service, Print on the Go. Submit your print job online, receive confirmation and go to any branch to release and pick up your print. Bring your library card. Here’s a Quick Steps instruction sheet.
Hamilton Public Library offers online computer classes and individual virtual appointments to help with basic technical issues, such as downloading eBooks and using our online resources.
Wireless (HPL_Guest)
HPL’s wireless network complements computer access and enables Members to use online resources and the internet with their wireless-enabled equipment. Wi-Fi is available during open hours and outside the branch 24/7.
