Bookmobile Service Modifications
With the recent closure of Six Nations Public Library, HPL's Bookmobile will change its bi-weekly visits to weekly starting Friday, March 13.
Starting Tuesday, March 17, Court at Rushdale moves to bi-weekly on Tuesdays (10:30am-11am), instead of Fridays.

Valley Park Community Centre Closure
From March 23 until April 12, Valley Park Community Centre will be closed for renovations, reopening April 13. Pool and changerooms will remain closed until early summer 2026.
Valley Park Branch will remain open during the renovations for your library needs.

Free Admission to City Museums with a Hamilton Public Library Card
Hamilton, Ontario – January 17, 2019 – As of February 18 (Family Day) entry into the City’s eight museums is free when you show your Hamilton Public Library (HPL) card.
Simply show your HPL card to gain complimentary general admission (excluding paid special events, booked programs and workshops) to any of the City of Hamilton operated museums: Dundurn National Historic Site, Hamilton Military Museum, Fieldcote Memorial Park and Museum, Griffin House Museum, Whitehern Historic House and Garden, Hamilton Children’s Museum, Battlefield House Museum and Park and the Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology.
At Wednesday’s (Jan 16) General Issues Committee meeting, Hamilton City Council unanimously passed Councillor Sam Merulla’s motion to provide free museum visits to all Hamilton Public Library card holders. “Museums and libraries are vital educational institutions that have a profound effect on public discourse and quality of life,” said Councillor Merulla. “Hamilton’s museums and libraries are an extension of our educational system and offer children and adults opportunities to discover and learn outside of a traditional classroom setting.”
Paul Takala, CEO and Chief Librarian, Hamilton Public Library, sees this partnership as a natural fit. “The City of Hamilton museums and the Hamilton Public Library work closely together to strengthen our community and its neighbourhoods. With this launch on Family Day, all Hamiltonians will now enjoy visiting library branches and museums with their library card – free of charge.”
Family Day also kicks off the Ontario Heritage Week (Feb 18-24), which encourages Hamilton residents to celebrate our cultural, natural, architectural and archeological heritage. “Together, Hamilton museums and Hamilton Public Library branches recognize the City’s vision to be the best place to raise a child and age successfully. This partnership offers Hamilton families the opportunity to get out and explore their City,” says Ian Kerr-Wilson, Manger, Heritage Resource Management, City of Hamilton.
