Inaugural Graduation for Google IT Support Professional Certificate
HAMILTON, ON – January 13, 2020 – Please join us at Central Library to celebrate the achievements of 41 students who are the first to finish Google’s IT Support Professional Certificate.
WHAT: Forty-one students offered scholarships for a pilot Google education program, administered by Hamilton Public Library, now have the skills needed to find meaningful employment in the tech sector.
WHO: Hamilton Public Library is one of four public libraries in Canada to receive funding from Google for the two-year pilot program. Of the 50 learners who began the program in April 2019, 41 finished. That’s an 82 per cent completion rate. A second set of learners are about to embark on their learning journey in March.

Google’s IT Support Professional Certificate prepares participants to become ready for an entry-level job in IT support, in about eight months, with no experience required. This certificate is part of Grow with Google, an initiative focused on helping everyone across Canada access the best of Google’s training and tools to grow their skills, careers and business. The Certificate is supported by a $1M Google.org grant that was given to the Toronto Public Library Foundation.
