Study Halls Return September 2

Study Halls at Central Library and Dundas, Red Hill, Terryberry, Turner Park, Valley Park, and Waterdown branches resume on Tuesday, September 2. They will be open after-hours Mondays-Thursdays from 8 pm to Midnight. www.hpl.ca/study-halls

Turner Park - Rymal Road Entrance Unavailable

The Rymal Road entrance to the facility will be unavailable today due to an event at the YMCA. Access to the parking lot, accessible parking spaces, back entrance, and external drop box remains available. Thank you for your patience.

Kenilworth Branch - Temporary Closure (Sept 2 - Oct 10)

Due to roof repair maintenance, the Branch is temporarily closed from September 2 until October 10. Please visit the Red Hill, Parkdale, and Barton locations as your nearest branches for your library needs. Donations, Sponsorship and Fundraising Policy

POLICY DETAILS

The Hamilton Public Library is a registered charity and follows all relevant rules and regulations of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). 

All donations constitute a complete transfer of ownership from the previous owner to the Library.  

The Hamilton Public Library will honour donor agreements. For unsolicited gifts of private collections, HPL has no obligation to inform the donor of the disposition of the donated materials, to retain intact, or to reserve special library shelving. Donations will be accepted on the understanding that they will be used in accordance with the criteria established in this Policy.  

Types of Gifts

HPL welcomes and accepts several types of gifts as defined by the Canada Revenue Agency. Where applicable, the Library may require the donor to have their property appraised by a certified appraiser at a shared expense with the Library before deciding whether a donation will be accepted.
